UPDATE 02/28/2005 Anthony is doing very well. We feel the same way about his survival as you do about your grandson, Michael. Anthony was born on March 11, 1996. He is about to celebrate his 9th Birthday! He was diagnosed in Oct. of 1998 at age 2 1/2. The tumor was located on his left side just above the temporal region. It seems like that all happened so very long ago! 09/23/99 Tony is doing great, he got his hickman pulled about 1 month ago because the last 3 CT scans showed no evidence of tumor. He no longer is receiving chemo. His parents are now seeing an alternative type doctor with more natural treatments. That's really it in a nutshell. Amy Schinneller, coworker of the father of Tony. Feb 15, 1998 my deepest apologies to all for the big gap in updating on news of baby tony. the holidays came and went with a flurry! during the week of christmas, tony took a break from chemo treatments spent time making cookies with grandma busha and grampa buck, playing at grandma johns& grampa pitchers house. tony even got a chance to visit santa at the north pole!! (by way of a c-130 filled with very nice elfs from children's hospital) then back to the weekly chemo treatments on an outpatient basis. tonys dad, dean is a nurse at froedtert hospital in wauwatosa and with natalies help, they are doing much of the home care themselves. his brothers james dean, and mikey along with big sis mary pat, help too! tony is SO brave and very good it comes to taking his meds. the family all had a chance for a road trip up to minnesota for a basketball game at mankato state university (tonys dad's played basketball there) a stop was made at camp snoopy in the mall of america, where the kids had a ton of fun!!! tony was quite the bus driver on the big yellow bus. and mom even went on the roller coaster with james dean! tony had a brief bout with pneumonia but being the little fighter he is he responded very well to the medication and is currently finishing up his last round of chemo. another mri is scheduled the 26th of this month. then time for analyzing the results and thinking through the next step. but i must share the wonderfull story mary b., a friend of the family...... mary traveled to st. louis to see the pope while he was there. she wore on her back, a photo of baby tony and the message asking people praying with the pope to also pray for baby tony. a news crew from milwaukee spotted her and asked who baby tony was....... she was then sharing tonys story and was highlighted on the evening news that day. a follow up story was done....... with baby tony and his mom, natalie talking about the power of prayer. the following are words from tonys parents....... Natalie & I would like to thank everyone for all the love, prayers, cards, gifts & support we have received for Tony. We truly believe that all of your prayers & dedicated masses are responsible for giving us our spunky "tough" guy back after surgery. Please continue your prayers for Tony as he continues his chemotherapy. Tony is a special child as evidenced by all of the lives he has touched. Remember, "whenever God wants to send you a gift, He wraps it up in a problem" Norman Vincent Peale November 24, 1998 Update from Jo Ann, a friend of the family. Last Wednesday Tony had to go back into the hospital, his fever was down but so were his blood counts. They are trying to get his counts back up. His mother said he perked up a little bit today. One of the side effects of the chemo is sores in the mouth, and this is making it difficult for Tony to eat. More latter. |
